Comfy & Chic: The Cashmerette Everett Pants & Shorts Pattern

If you’re on the hunt for a stylish, super wearable summer pattern—especially one that plays nicely with linen—you’re going to want to check this out. Today I’m sharing the Everett Pants and Shorts* from Cashmerette’s regular pattern catalog (no club membership required!). Read on or watch the video here:
Let’s dive into what makes the Everett such a summer MVP…
Pattern Details: The Everett Pants & Shorts
This is an elastic-waist pants and shorts pattern with just a hint of a paper bag waist—about ⅜" of ruffle, so it’s subtle enough even if you’re not usually a fan of that style (hi, fellow short-torso folks!). There are front banded pockets, patch back pockets, optional belt loops, and a waist tie. For the shorts, there’s also an optional cuff detail at the hem.
I’ve got a full sew-along video that walks you through everything—making the pants, adding the cuffs to the shorts, and all the steps in between. If you're a visual learner, it's a great resource.
Let’s Talk Fabric
This pattern shines in medium-weight bottomweight fabrics. I used linen for both versions, including an embroidered linen blend and a classic 100% linen. They’re light, breathable, and perfect for warm weather.
Other fabric options that would work beautifully:
- Lightweight denim (6–8 oz)
- Cotton twill
- Rayon or viscose twill
- Wool suiting (for cooler seasons)
- Raw silk or four-ply silk for a luxe look
Just be mindful not to go too heavy—since it’s gathered at the waist, bulkier fabrics could get a bit puffy.
Styling Notes
I paired my embroidered linen pants with the Cashmerette Thorndike Tank in a matching fabric, and it’s such a fun set! Honestly, it gives “intentional outfit” without much effort. I also made the shorts version in a navy gingham linen, which feels equal parts summery and classic.
The shorts, as drafted, were a little long on my 5'2" frame. Next time I’ll shorten the pattern before sewing to preserve the cuff option. But for this version, I’ll just remove the cuff and do a narrow hem. Easy fix!
Fit & Sizing Tips
I sewed a straight size 10 in both versions. Normally I’d grade to a 12 at the waist, but with elastic-waist pants, I just cut the 10 and lengthened the elastic for a comfortable fit. The result? Comfy all day long with plenty of room for natural body fluctuations (hello, summer inflammation and bloat!).
If your waist tends to change throughout the day, elastic is truly your best friend.
Seasonal Versatility
Don’t let the relaxed linen vibes fool you—these pants and shorts transition beautifully into fall. Picture the pants with a cardigan, tee, and some flats or ankle boots. Or layer the shorts with tights and a cozy sweater. This pattern has year-round potential depending on your fabric and styling choices.

I love this pattern. It’s comfortable, cute, and oh-so-practical. If you’re new to sewing pants or just want a satisfying summer sew that you’ll actually wear, I highly recommend giving the Everett a try.
