Fall Fabric Haul + Sewing Plans

I’ve got a fun fabric haul to share. These aren’t all from one shopping trip, but six beautiful pieces I’ve picked up over the past few weeks. Each one has a special plan behind it, and I can’t wait to walk you through the fabrics, patterns, and outfit ideas that are inspiring my fall sewing. Read on or watch here:
Liberty Fabrics from Duckadilly
Our first stop was a memorable one—Duckadilly in Ann Arbor, Michigan! They’re the largest distributor of Liberty of London fabrics in the U.S., and while they’re usually appointment-only, we called ahead and were able to browse in person.
I picked up two stunning Liberty cotton lawns that perfectly capture my fall color palette.
- A bold, autumnal floral that inspired my entire fall capsule wardrobe color story. I bought four yards—definitely a splurge—but it’s going to become a Seamwork Mynra Dress*. This maxi-length style will look amazing with boots or loafers, and the Liberty cotton lawn is perfect for transitional wear
- A smaller-scale ditzy print in coordinating colors. I plan to turn this one into a Cashmerette Vernon Shirt, using the taller “View B” cuff. It’ll be great layered under sweaters or vests for a classic, cozy fall look.
A White Shirting & a Dreamy Plaid from The French Seam
Next up, a visit to The French Seam, a local favorite in the Indianapolis area.
- White cotton-linen shirting: A wardrobe staple I’ve been missing ever since my last one met an unfortunate marinara accident. This creamy “winter white” is exactly my shade, and I’ll be using it to sew another Cashmerette Vernon Shirt*.
- Fableism cotton plaid: My “fun” fabric from this haul! I’ve been admiring Fableism’s fabrics for ages, and this large-scale plaid practically begged to be made into a Closet Core Edith Shirt Dress. I even picked up matching buttons while I was there. I’m planning to cut the side panels on the bias to really play up the plaid.
Mood Fabrics: A Boden-Inspired Outfit
If you watched my Recreate Ready-to-Wear Looks video, you might remember the Boden look I fell in love with—a chic navy and white outfit that I knew I had to make my own.
So, I ordered two fabrics from Mood Fabrics* to bring that idea to life:
- Navy Ponte Knit*: I’ll be using this for a pair of Love Notions Bridget Trousers*, which I plan to hack into a slightly wider leg version.
- Striped Cotton Viscose Knit Panel*: This fabric has the most interesting stripe variation—narrow to wide—and it’s destined to become a Love Notions Frankie Polo*. I’ll use scrap knits for the collar and cuffs to get that preppy-meets-modern vibe from the Boden look.
Wrapping It Up
That’s my latest haul—six beautiful new fabrics, each with a clear sewing plan and a healthy dose of excitement. From Liberty lawns to cozy knits, I’m ready to dive into these fall projects.
