I just wanted to pop in amidst my Sew Over It ebook capsule to talk about the Sew My Style pattern for September. This month, it was the Fringe dress and blouse by Chalk and Notch.
I chose to do the blouse version and I went with view B.
I will admit that I was a little uninspired with this one. In theory I like this pattern, but I was just having a hard time coming up with a make in my head. However, when I signed up to do the Sew My Style Challenge, I fully intended to do the entire challenge. I think that’s what makes the challenge so fun. It makes you stretch your creativity to make these patterns your own! I left it until the last minute and went scrounging in my stash for a drapy fabric. I found this Joel Dewberry rayon that had been in my stash for at least 7 years!
I am happy to report that I really like the end result of this top! I just love when that happens. While I think these colors lend themselves more to a Spring/Summer top, I think I can eek out a few more weeks until its time to put it away. Here are the alterations I made to this pattern:
I made a straight size 12 with a 3” total FBA
I omitted the waist ties
I graded the waist back to its original size 12 measurements after the FBA so I just had the extra fabric at the bust.
I shortened the top by 1”
That about wraps it up for this pattern! I’m very happy with the end result and think this will get quite a bit of wear next Spring and Summer!
Next up is my review of the rest of my Sew Over It capsule so stay tuned.
Until next time!
