Welcome to my newest obsession, the Axel Skirt by Megan Nielsen Patterns. This was December’s pattern for the #sewmystyle2018 challenge.
This skirt comes with 3 variations, but really a lot of the elements can be mixed and matched to create even more. For my first version, I decided to do version 3. Its a midi pencil skirt with a slit that can be worn in the front or back depending on your mood!
I love this skirt so much. I used a ponte knit from JoAnn’s Fabric that is fantastic quality. It is a rayon/nylon/spandex blend and is just what you would find in high-end ready to wear. It’s amazing and they carry it in a few colors! I sewed a size medium and just had to shorten it (I’m only 5’2”) 4”. I shortened it 2” above the slit and 2” below the slit. I also inserted a shapewear slip lining that I made out of power mesh to help smooth out any lumps and bumps. I talked about the process in one of my Vlogmas videos:
This project only took about 30 minutes to both cut out and construct. It is super quick and so chic! A definite recommendation for any last minute holiday sewing!
This might take the cake for my favorite #sewmystyle2018 pattern. It’s hard to say for sure, but I REALLY love this one! Stay tuned for a round up of all 12 of my Sew My Style patterns next!
Until next time!
