The Morgans are a girlfriend/boyfriend style jean that are meant for non-stretch denim. They are fitted through the hip and then straight through the thigh and leg. I purchased this pattern when it first came out and even bought it in kit that Closet Case had at the time that included 2 cuts of Cone Mill Denim. I’m not sure what took me so long to sew these up, but I really like the fit of these babies!
I made a size 12 because my hip measurement put me between the 10 and the 12 and the pattern recommended sizing up if that were the case. However, once I got them made up, I ended up taking quite a bit out of the side seams, so maybe I should have gone with the 10? You can see my fitting process in two of my Vlogmas clips on my YouTube Channel:
Other than these last minute adjustments, I took 4” out of the leg length (I do this to almost every pattern because I’m so short). I also shortened the center front rise by 2” to nothing at center back. Other than that, these were made as is! I made them quite fitted through the hip area so that they could stretch and mold to my body. I’m really excited to see how this denim ages with wear and washes!
These are a bit of a departure from my normal skinny jeans, but I quite like the change. Only time and wear will tell if these become a long term favorite!
That is all for now. Next up I’ll be breaking away from my Closet Case Capsule to bring you a pattern review of a fantastic holiday/occasion dress, but we’ll return to finish the capsule after that.
Until next time!
