And now we move on to the simpler projects in this capsule! The first of these is this fabulous turtleneck from S8750
Now it is no secret that I have a mild obsession with turtlenecks. If you have watched any of my YouTube videos, you will find that I have a fair number of these wardrobe staples (with more to come). This turtleneck, however grabbed from the get go. I just LOVE the yoke detail on the shoulder. The pattern cover does a great job of showcasing this detail by using a plain fabric for the yoke. I, however, decided to have a little fun with stripe play.
The fabric I used is a luscious cotton jersey from Textile Fabrics in Nashville, TN. The colors were just perfect for this capsule and it brought in some hot pink that I thought would be a wonderful addition to all the blues and greens.
I was right about the colors. It goes beautifully with all my pieces so far and is just the pop I felt was missing. The stripes were also very fun to work with when it came to the yoke and gathering detail.
It turned out beautifully and sewed up in under an hour. It’s also been in heavy rotation since coming off the serger!
It also makes pattern mixing a lot of fun.
So what do you think of my rainbow striped top? Too much, or just right to punch up this capsule?
Stay tuned for the final piece in this mini capsule!
