Hello, everyone!
Today, I’m talking about the second pattern in my Sew Over It Work to Weekend Capsule wardrobe. The first pattern was the Edie Top and I talked about it here. This is Dana Blouse and it also comes as a dress and a cropped top. I, obviously, went with the blouse version for this capsule.
I used a rayon challis with these amazing birds. I got this fabric at the beginning of the year from Stonemountain and Daughter. While they no longer have this print, they do have an amazing selection of other rayons here.
I am so pleased with this top. I was a bit nervous about the lack of bust darts, but I found there was enough ease that it wasn’t a huge problem. Here are the alterations I did for this pattern:
I sewed a size 8 at the shoulders and graded out to a 14 at the arm holes and side seams.
I sewed a top button hole instead of the recommended snap
I faced my hem with bias tape.
I really love the neckline on this blouse and the hidden button placket. It makes the overall silhouette very sleek and chic!
All in all, I was really pleased with how well this one sewed up. I’m pretty sure there will be another one I my future and probably one as a dress as well!
Up next, I’ll be talking about the pants in this capsule!
Until then!
